RTA Announces Two New Toll Gates for Dubai
The Road and Transport Authority (RTA) aims to reduce traffic congestion through strategic development in Dubai. With public transport, road systems and Salik, RTA Dubai has taken initiatives to control traffic flow. Implementing its aim for optimising traffic conditions in the emirate, RTA has announced two new Salik toll gates in Dubai on 19th January 2024.

Announcement of New Toll Gates in Dubai
Salik Dubai has significantly reduced the travel time of users with controlled traffic flow, reducing congestion at peak hours. These Salik toll gates use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to scan the Salik tag on vehicles and deduct the charges when a vehicle passes from these toll gates.
Business Bay Crossing and Al Safa South on Sheikh Zayed Road are the two new Salik toll gates in Dubai. Previously, the number of toll gates was eight, but with these recently added Salik gates in Dubai, there are a total of ten Salik gates.

After research and study on traffic, RTA has come up with the two new Salik toll gates in Dubai,
the Business Bay Crossing Toll Gate on Al Khail Road and the Al Safa South Toll Gate on Sheikh Zayed Road, one of the major highways in the UAE. Besides, these new toll gates will be fully functional by November 2024.
Traffic Benefits With the New Salik Toll Gates
New toll gates were announced in Dubai to organise the traffic congestion and open new traffic corridors. The Business Bay Crossing Toll Gate will reroute the vehicles from Jebel Ali to Sheikh Zayed Road. Besides, it will reduce the traffic congestion on Al Khail Road and Al Rabat Street by 15% and 16%, respectively. This toll gate will reduce the travelling hours significantly.
On the other hand, the Al Safa South Toll Gate is such that motorists will have to pay a single tariff when crossing between the Al Safa South and North Toll Gates. Moreover, this toll gate will cut down traffic on the right turn from Sheikh Zayed Road to Al Meydan Street by 15%. Meanwhile, it will reduce the traffic from Al Meydan Street and Al Safa Street to Sheikh Zayed Road by 42%.
