All about Opening a DEWA Account in Dubai
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is the official electricity and water supply company in the Emirate. One of the first things you should do when moving to a new property in Dubai is to activate water and power services through your DEWA account. There are multiple ways of DEWA account opening and the process is streamlined for users.

HOW TO CREATE A NEW DEWA ACCOUNT IN DUBAI (MOVE-IN)
There are two options for DEWA account registration.
To create a DEWA account online, simply follow these steps:
- Go to DEWA’s official website
- Go to log in and select the ‘Consumer’ category
- Select UAE Pass or DEWA ID, whichever is applicable
- If you don’t have DEWA ID, go to ‘Create an Account’
- Enter your business partner number or account number and click ‘Register’
- Enter the verification code you received through email or SMS and submit
- Now you can set up your username and password
- Agree to the terms and conditions and select ‘Create an Account’
- Your DEWA online account is created
ACTIVATION REQUEST FOR ELECTRICITY AND WATER(MOVE-IN)
This service activates electricity and water for a new premise. If you are new to Dubai or a new customer, you can apply in two ways:
Option A: Through RERA (Real Estate Regulatory Agency)
RERA is a real estate government agency which authorizes the registration of real estate projects. RERA is responsible for issuing Ejari contracts in Dubai. When you get your Ejari, a welcome email from DEWA will be sent automatically, including the DEWA contract account number and link for payment of the security deposit.
Option B: By using DEWA smart app or website
Once you receive the tenancy contract or Ejari, you can easily use DEWA smart app (iOS|Android).
HOW TO APPLY FOR ELECTRICITY AND WATER ACTIVATION
To apply for electricity and water activation(move-in), you will need the following:
- A title deed if you are the landlord
- Ejari number if you are a tenant
If you are new to Dubai or a new customer, follow the steps below:
- Simply go to DEWA’s official website
- From the menu, select the ‘Consumer’ category and choose ‘Supply Management’
- Select activation of electricity and water (move-in)
- Read the information and select the ‘New in Dubai’ option
- Choose the appropriate category and fill out the given form
- Attach the required documents
- Now create a user name and password for the DEWA account
- Agree to the terms and conditions and select ‘Continue’
- Confirm your payment details and ‘Continue’
- Your DEWA water and electricity activation request is now submitted
- The connection will be activated within 15 hours
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
The following documents are needed to open a new DEWA account in Dubai(if applicable)
- Property owners must provide a valid title deed
- Residents of Dubai must provide their Emirates ID
- Trade Permit (for commercial and industrial customers)
- For GCC nationals/investors, a copy of their passport is required
SECURITY DEPOSIT
AED 2,000 security deposit for a Dubai apartment (residential premises)
AED 4,000 security deposit for a villa in Dubai (residential premises)
ACTIVATION CHARGES
- Connecting power and water costs AED 100 (small meters)
- Connecting electricity and water metres cost AED 300 (large meters)
- Registration costs AED 10
- The knowledge fee is AED 10
- The innovation fee is AED 10
- VAT if applicable
SERVICE ACTIVATION
Your supply of electricity and water will be activated within 15 hours from the submission of the security deposit.

Location 4: Burj Nahar-Future

- Timings: 07:30 am to 8:00 pm Monday to Thursday | 07:30 am to 11:30 am Friday | Closed on Saturdays and Sundays
Location 5: Hatta Customer Happiness Centre
- Address: Hatta Road
- Timings: 07:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Thursday | 07:30 am to 12:00 am Friday | Closed on Saturdays and Sundays
Location 6: Dubai Municipality – Al Twar Centre-Future
