First Generation (2005 to 2008)
The first model of the B-Class was rolled off in the year 2005. The car was recognizable because of its compact box-shaped exterior. The body of the first generation B-Class was pointed at the front and straight at the back with an uplifted roof. The front featured Mercedes’ signature radiator grille sandwiched between triangular headlights. Whereas the back was almost straight with rectangular tail lights. Along with this, the car has wide windows and an optional panoramic sunroof.
The car was built on a wider wheelbase that provides enough space to accommodate 5 passengers. The floor was flat to ensure a comfortable ride experience for the passengers in the rear seats. These seats were also foldable to increase the trunk space. For the drivers, all the important controls were positioned near the steering wheel, similar to the C-Class generations.
To power the car, a wide range of engines, including petrol and turbo diesel engines, were offered. Similar to engines, multiple transmission options were also available including manual, automatic and Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) systems.
Second Generation (2008 to 2010)

The narrow slats of the signature grille were replaced by thicker slats, and the shape of the headlights was changed from triangular to rectangular. Whereas the front bumpers were also redesigned. Moreover, the parking sensors were installed subtle inside the rim, which also adds to the overall exterior of the car.
For the interior, Mercedes redesigned the centre slack and an advanced infotainment system was also installed. However, the other interior features remain the same, as they were in the first generation.

The rectangular headlights were replaced with an eye-shaped pointed headlight. To increase the length of the vehicle, a spoiler was added at the rear end.
The interior of the car was finely surfaced and high-quality materials were used for a better finish. The centre console was redesigned and the infotainment screen was shifted at the top of the dashboard. To increase the car’s sporty character, sports dampers, a direct-steer system and sport suspension system were also present.
The engine range includes petrol, diesel and natural gas engines. These engines were accompanied by a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and AWD system.
Fourth Generation (2014 to 2018)
The front fascia was facelifted with a redesigned radiator grille, hood and LED headlights. Whereas, the body contours were more enhanced which makes the look more pronounced. The interior was also facelifted, with a redesigned console and advanced version of the infotainment system.
A 4MATIC AWD drivetrain system was standard among all the trims. Whereas, for the engine, along with conventional engine types an electric engine was also introduced in this generation.
