First Generation Cadillac Escalade (1999 – 2001)
The first-generation Cadillac Escalade was rushed into the design. It was all because of the fearing dominance of the Lincoln Navigator in the SUV marketplace. The old Cadillac Escalade was a badge-engineered model of the existing GMC Yukon Denali, introduced in the market in 1999.
The old Cadillac Escalade features included a 5.7-litre V8 engine with an output of 255 horsepower. It was available in a single base trim level with a four-wheel-drive (4WD) option. The old Cadillac Escalade had 16’’ aluminium alloy wheels, side cladding panels, and front and rear bumpers. The only physical differences between GMC Yukon Denali and the first-generation Cadillac Escalade were the rear tailgates, emblems on the front doors and grilles, front-seat upholstery and steering wheels. In Cadillac Escalade history, the production of its first-generation only ran for two years despite its initial success.
Second-Generation Cadillac Escalade (2002 – 2006)
In August 2000, the second-generation Cadillac Escalade was unveiled as the 2002 model Escalade. It was an eight-seater SUV (except for the EXT trim). It was developed on the GMT800 platform and was available in ESV (Extended Stretch Vehicle) and EXT (Extended Crossover Truck) trims.
The Escalade featured a rear-wheel drive along with a 5.3-litre V8 engine. Whereas the ESV and EXT trims had all-wheel drive as the standard powertrain. By mid-2005 the 5.3-litre engine was replaced by the high-output 6.0-litre V8 engine in all models.
In 2003, the Escalade EXT and GMT800 Cadillac Escalade underwent an interior facelift without changes to the exterior design. Along with many changes in the interior, a DVD infotainment system for the rear seats was introduced for the 2003 model year.
Third Generation Cadillac Escalade (2007 – 2014)

This generation of Escalade came with a 6.2-litre V8 engine featuring variable valve timing, first introduced in a non-overhead cam engine. It was capable of adjusting both intake and exhaust timing in just two settings. The engine had an output of 403 horsepower and 565 Nm of torque.
The standard features of a third-generation Cadillac Escalade included air-conditioning, leather upholstery, audio controls on the steering wheel, multi-way power seats, and a remote engine start system. Minor updates were done to the Escalade for seven years. Then, the Cadillac Escalade next generation was released in 2015.
