DEWA Disconnection Process Explained
If you are planning to move out of your home in Dubai then DEWA disconnection is one of the most important steps you should take. DEWA has made the disconnection procedure fairly simple and hassle-free for its customers. Everything including bill payment, Activation of Electricity/Water (Move-in), Transfer of Electricity/Water (Move-to) or complaint registration, can be done online.
To complete the DEWA disconnection process, you only need an online account and a few documents to upload. You can also visit DEWA Customer Happiness Centres to get the disconnection process done.
Let’s dig into the details and find out how to disconnect DEWA, what documents are required and what is the DEWA disconnection fee.
Dewa Disconnection Process Online
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority DEWA supplies electricity and water in Dubai. Whether you are residing in a studio apartment or a villa, DEWA ensures an uninterrupted supply of water and electricity.
To disconnect the DEWA online, you can pick the following two options;
- Apply Online
- Apply Online (Without Login)
Online Procedure with Login
One can complete the DEWA disconnection process with login by using the following steps:
- You can log in by using your DEWA User ID or UAE Pass. For this purpose, you can either visit the DEWA website or download the DEWA App. The DEWA app is available for iSO, Android and Huawei users.
- Insert the DEWA contract number or the UAE Pass. It is a 10-digit number of the account for which the request has to be made.
- You must pay the outstanding amount (if any) to proceed further. The amount can be paid by using a credit/debit card.
- Once you are done with the payment, select the date and time when you are planning to move out. Be sure while doing this because your electricity and water supply will be discontinued from the given date and the reading of the final metre will be taken.
- You will be required to select the method to pay the Security Deposit refund. This could be done via bank transfer, cheque and Western Union. You can also pick the “Transfer to other active accounts” option and “I will apply for a refund later”.
- Now submit your application. Once applied, you will receive a move-out notification via email or SMS.
When you move out the supply will be deactivated and the final metre reading will be noted.
Online Procedure Without Login
People who are not registered online and don’t have the login details can disconnect the DEWA service by following the below-mentioned steps:
- Visit the DEWA app or website and on the sidebar, you will find an “Apply Online (without login)” button.
- Enter your 9-digit DEWA premises number and DEWA Contract Account number.
- You will receive a one-time password to your registered mobile number or email address.
- Once you receive the OTP, enter it in the given field.
- In this step, you need to pay all the outstanding bills (if any).
- Next, you will be asked to select the date and time when you are planning to vacate the space along with the method of security deposit refund.
Once you are done filling out the DEWA disconnection form you are all set to apply. As for companies, a signed and stamped request letter on the company’s letterhead needs to be attached. This step is only applicable to credit balance cases.
You will receive the final bill on your registered email within 24 hours of the selected date. Also, if the final bill amount is higher than the security deposit, you will receive a new bill. On the other hand, if the bill amount is lower than the security deposit, you will receive the remaining amount via cheque or online transfer.
