Toyota vehicles have long been known for their durability and performance. The renowned Japanese brand has a diverse line-up based on daily-driven and performance-oriented vehicles. The automaker has also branched out into several divisions. One of the brand’s key divisions is the Toyota Racing Development, popularly abbreviated as TRD. The division works on, tests and introduces a host of performance features on select vehicles. These additional features are offered as the Toyota TRD package. Let’s explore more about it.
What Does Toyota TRD Mean?

TRD produces various products and accessories including car superchargers, suspension components and wheels. These parts may also be available at authorised Toyota dealerships worldwide.
History of Toyota TRD
The history of the TRD division is even older than the Toyota Gazoo Racing (GR) series. TRD was officially formed by the Japanese automaker in 1971. Working with the TRD and GR divisions, Toyota has produced various types of sports cars over the years. TRD also produced parts and accessories for Lexus vehicles, Toyota’s luxury division, for quite some time. However, according to the history of Lexus, the luxury brand later got its own motorsports division known by the name of Lexus F and F-Sports.
