FIRST-GENERATION PORSCHE CAYENNE (2002-2011)
Porsche revealed the first vehicle of the company’s SUV lineup named the Cayenne. The newly unveiled model shared the platform with Volkswagen Touareg.

The Cayenne 955 was launched as a four-door vehicle and a majority of the features were inspired by the Porsche 911-996 model. It had a wheelbase of 75.9 inches and a ground clearance of 8.5 inches. It had a towing capacity of 3493 kg.
The interior consisted of five seats which could be elevated. The instrument cluster was placed on the left side. The seating surfaces and the steering wheel were leather-wrapped.

FIRST-GENERATION PORSCHE CAYENNE FACELIFT (2007-2009)
Cayenne got a facelift in 2008 as a 957 model. Streamline headlights and DRLs underneath them modified the front fascia. The Porsche logo was embedded between the headlights. A new front bumper, hood and fenders were integrated for an enhanced look. A new set of rear-view mirrors were added.
The V8 engine of Cayenne S was boosted to 4.8 litres, producing 385hp. In Porsche Cayenne 957, the Porsche Communication Management system infotainment system and Bluetooth feature were added. In addition to this, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) was added hydraulically to control sway bars. It helped to improve wheel travel and suspension.
SECOND-GENERATION PORSCHE CAYENNE (2011-2019)
The Porsche Cayenne 2nd generation was unveiled with the launch of the Porsche Cayenne 958 and it debuted in two versions, 958.1 and 958.2.

The exterior was designed using lightweight materials to maximise handling acceleration. The vehicle was made wider, higher and slightly longer than the former Porsche Cayenne models. The headlights of the 597 model were replaced by new headlight graphics embedding additional lights inside, highlighting the classic Porsche look.
The Cayenne was modified to a large extent. The centre console was raised to the front and a 7-inch infotainment screen was placed in the middle. The dashboard and instrument panel were modified to depict the typical DNA of a Porsche. The interior was leather-wrapped along with power front seats and folding rear seats.
The 4.8-litre V8 engine and a twin-turbo V8 replaced the 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission in the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo versions. The power was boosted to 395 hp and 493 hp respectively.
SECOND-GENERATION PORSCHE CAYENNE Facelift (2015-2018)
The second generation was facelifted as a 958.2 model. The front fascia was redesigned with the addition of new fenders, a grille and headlights. The plastic underbody was replaced with an aluminium shield and a roof spoiler was added.
A five-dial instrument cluster was introduced and the air vents were made slimmer. Moreover, a V6 3.6-litre engine was introduced which produced a power of 300hp. The manual gearbox from the optional and standard options was discontinued.
THIRD-GENERATION PORSCHE CAYENNE (2019-PRESENT)
In 2019, Porsche Cayenne’s next generation launched with a 9Y0 model. Many technical upgrades took place that enhanced the vehicle’s performance and parking manoeuvre.

The front fascia features a grille having three vertical slats. D-pillars are added to the sides for an enhanced look. Under the bumper, two wide and chromed rectangular exhausts have been placed in the apron. The wheelbase has been extended to 114 inches.
In the interior, a 12.3-inch Full HD touchscreen infotainment system is installed. The instrument cluster is modified by two 7-inch displays for navigation and other features.
The drivetrain was upgraded to a turbocharged V6 3.0-litre engine. Paired with 8-speed automatic transmission, the power is boosted to 340 hp and a torque of 450 Nm. The Porsche Traction Management AWD system was improved to maximise off-roading capabilities and road handling.
In 2018, the E-Hybrid version of the Cayenne Porsche was introduced. It is equipped with a V6 turbocharged 3.0-litre engine that powers 340 hp and boosts the power to 462 hp after combining with the 136 hp electric motor. The entire assembly is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
