Guide to Car Parking at Dubai Expo 2020
Expo 2020 Dubai is a grand world fair that expects to welcome millions of visitors from across the globe till March 2022. For visitors’ convenience, RTA has initiated Expo Rider, a free shuttle service, and has established dedicated Expo Metro 2020 lines to pick and drop Expo attendees directly to the event site. However, those who decide to arrive in their personal vehicle can avail the dedicated car parking at Expo 2020.
Vehicle owners can get to the site from all major roads and access Expo 2020 car parking. All they have to do is follow signs to the designated parking zones.
Let’s explore Dubai Expo 2020 car parking timings, zones, parking shuttles and other important details.
EXPO 2020 CAR PARKING
Commuting to and from Expo 2020 Dubai is hassle-free, given various modes of dedicated public transport. However, visitors coming to Expo are facilitated by establishing four zones for parking at Dubai Expo 2020. Moreover, all the parking zones are under video surveillance.
Without further ado, let’s dive into the details related to Expo 2020 car parking:
EXPO 2020 CAR PARKING TIMINGS & CHARGES
There is free car parking at Expo 2020, however, ticket holders are required to adhere to the parking schedule.
- Saturday to Wednesday, entry is from 8:30 am to 11:00 pm
- Thursday, Friday and Special days, entry is from 8:30 am to 1:00 am
EXPO 2020 CAR PARKING ZONES
From the four parking zones, three are colour-coded to each thematic district at Expo 2020. Car owners can choose to park in the zone, depending on the district they want to explore. For instance, if you wish to visit the Opportunity District, then your parking at Expo 2020 will be in the Opportunity Parking zone, in order to get to the right gate easily.
Read here for further details on each of the Expo 2020 car parking zones:
Opportunity Parking Zone: This parking zone is accessible from E77 Expo Road and orange colour coded. The lots in this zone are from A to F.
Sustainability Parking Zone: Car owners can access this zone from the E77 Expo Road and D54 Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan. It is marked green and the lots here are from A to H.
Mobility Parking Zone: This Dubai Expo 2020 car parking zone can be reached from E311 Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. The zone is marked blue with the lots marked from A to N.
Dubai Exhibition Centre Parking Zone: This parking zone at Expo 2020 Dubai is not colour coded. It is accessible from E311 Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.
EXPO 2020 CAR PARKING TYPES
The zones in Expo 2020 parking are further subdivided or you can say sub-categorised. There are signs placed in the parking zones for certain vehicle types and specific ticket holders. Moreover, the staff is present in the parking zones to facilitate car owners/drivers.
Let’s go through different parking spots at Expo 2020:
Valet Parking
Valet parking is available only on a first-come basis in the Sustainability, Mobility and Opportunity parking zones for AED 95 (each visit and for the whole day). Those ticket holders with valet parking vouchers don’t need to pay the valet parking charges.
Electric Vehicle (EV) Parking
There is a separate parking space for electric vehicles, marked in green at the three parking zones. Also, charging points are installed there.
Premium Parking
This section in the zones is for attendees with official Expo invites.
Nissan Parking
As the name implies, this parking section in the Mobility (H block) and Sustainability (Block G) zones is reserved for Nissan cars.
People of Determination (PoD) Parking
Since there are driving facilities for PoD in the UAE, Expo 2020 also facilitates them with a dedicated parking section in the Mobility, Opportunity and Sustainability zones. There are PoD parking signs placed in the zones. For this parking, a valid UAE PoD parking permit is required. PoD from other countries need to get a temporary parking permit from RTA Dubai’s Al Manarah or Umm Ramool centres by providing their visa, passport, proof of Dubai address and picture. Besides, they can present evidence of disability or a parking permit from their country. To facilitate PoD from the parking, wheelchair accessible buggies are available that take attendees to the arrivals plaza.
Jubilee Experience Parking
This section is marked in black in the Sustainability parking zone. Attendees with Jubilee Experience ticket holders can park in this reserved area.
Media Parking
This reserved parking is in the Sustainability area’s Block E for the media personnel with an accredited pass.
Public Parking
The general public has access to all the remaining letter blocks.
EXPO 2020 CAR PARKING SHUTTLES
Shuttles operate from all four zones of parking at Expo 2020. The shuttle drops attendees about 600 metres away from the gate. These shuttles operate at a high frequency to ensure that attendees don’t have to wait too long to reach the gate. Also, shuttles are marked with colours to match the respective district. The shuttles are spacious enough to accommodate two wheelchairs or baby strollers.
QR codes can be scanned from the boards, spotted at the end of each parking row and at the shuttle stops in each parking zone. Scanning the QR code helps you identify where you have parked in your car. In case you forgot to scan the code, you can take assistance from the staff in your parking zone or from the Transport Plaza. Also, when you scan the QR code you get to know which shuttle bus to board on. Remember to board the same shuttle when returning from the event hall.
This is all about parking at Expo. Hopefully, this guide will help you decide where you can or where you should park your car and plan accordingly. To plan the entire visit and schedule of events, you can also download Expo 2020 Dubai mobile app (Android | iOS).
Besides, make sure that your vehicle is not parked for more than 48 hours in any of the zones. The Expo 2020 authority will tow the vehicle from the site and impose hefty fines, in case the car is parked for 48+ hours. Those who wish to commute via public transport can also book RTA taxi in Dubai. Besides, as mentioned above they can opt for any of the dedicated Expo 2020 Metro and Expo Rider. Make sure to check the Expo 2020 Metro and bus routes and then plan the journey accordingly.
