From October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, Dubai will be hosting Expo 2020. Originally scheduled to take place from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021, Expo 2020 was postponed because of concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. However, despite being held in 2021, the event organizers retained ‘2020’ in the name of the event for branding and marketing purposes.

Dubai Metro
Dubai Metro is the world’s largest fully automated metro network. From Saturday to Thursday, Dubai metro services commence at 5:00 AM while these services start from 10:00 AM on Fridays. Here’s how you can visit Expo 2020 via Dubai Metro.
Expo 2020 Metro Routes
At present, the Red Line, Green Line (starts from Etisalat Metro Station till Creek Metro Station) and Branch Line (runs from Jebel Ali Metro Station to UAE Exchange Metro Station) are the only three metro lines which are operational in Dubai with the Blue and Purple Line likely to be introduced in the future.

Visiting Expo 2020 via Green Line
There are nineteen stations along the Branch Line:

- Al Qusais
- Dubai Airport Free Zone
- Al Nahda, Stadium
- Al Qiyadah
- Abu Hail
- Abu Baker Al Siddique
- Union
- Baniyas Square
- Gold Souq (Previously Palm Deira)
- Al Ras
- Al Ghubaiba
- Sharaf DG (Previously Al Fahidi)
- Burjuman
- Oud Metha
- Dubai Healthcare City
- Al Jaddaf
- Creek.
At Burjuman or Union, interchange your train and switch to the Red Line. The last stop of the Red Line will be your dropoff destination.
Visiting Expo 2020 via Branch Line
There are five stations along the Branch Line:
- Jebel Ali (Previously known as Nakheel Harbour & Tower)
- Ibn Battuta
- Energy
- Danube
- UAE Exchange
From any of these stations whichever is convenient for you, board a metro from the station till Jebel Ali. After reaching Jebel Ali, switch to the Red Line and continue on Route 2020 until you reach the last stop where you will need to get off.
Visiting Expo 2020 via Airport
There are two airports near Expo 2020: Dubai International and Al Maktoum International Airport.
From the bus stand at Al Maktoum International Airport, take the F55 bus and drop off at Ibn Battuta Bus Station. Walk till the Ibn Battuta Metro Station. Continue till Jebel Ali Metro Station and change trains there. The sixth stop will be your drop off destination.
Visiting Expo 2020 From Dubai International Airport
When you arrive at Dubai International Airport, head towards either Terminal 1 or 3. From the airport, take the Metro to Expo 2020. You do not need to change trains at any of the interchange stations if you stay on the Red Line. Carry on your journey until you reach the Expo 2020 Station.

Expo Riders Buses
In an effort to make commuting easier and convenient for visitors, the Road and Transport Authority is offering a free bus tour to Expo 2020. RTA has made arrangements of a free bus tour to Expo 2020 from 18 locations across the United Arab Emirates. In order to travel via RTA buses in Dubai, it is required to have a Nol Card which can be collected from any metro station.
There are four kinds of Nol cards:
- Red Ticket (a paper card for one trip which costs AED 2)
- Personal Card (costs AED)
- Gold Card (costs AED 25)
- Regular Silver Card (costs AED 25).
Expo Riders Buses, which will have 77 buses to offer 287 trips per day during weekdays and 358 trips during the weekend, have three stations in Abu Dhabi, two stations in Sharjah and one station apiece in Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman and Fujairah. In addition to this, 57 buses will offer about 450-470 trips per day across the nine stations in Dubai.
