Car History: Chevrolet Tahoe

First Generation Chevrolet Tahoe (1995 to 1999)

Second Generation Chevrolet Tahoe (2000 to 2006)
The front fascia of the second-generation Tahoe was revised. Two rows of rectangular headlights with rounded edges and a Chevrolet logo in between were present. To complement the rugged-off exterior, roof racks and a sunroof was also installed.
Inside the cabin, a broad dashboard was present. AC control and the stereo system were present on the centre console and a rectangular instrument cluster was positioned behind the steering wheel. In the second generation, the Chevrolet Tahoe included a third row of seats increasing the SUV’s seating capacity.
The second generation was also equipped with stability control, a navigation system, power-adjustable pedals and a rear-seat entertainment system.
The car was offered with an optional 4.8 or 5.3-litre V8 engine paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission system. For the drivetrain, Chevrolet offers optional 2WD and 4WD systems.
Third Generation Chevrolet Tahoe (2006 to 2013)
Chevrolet introduces the third-generation Tahoe with a redesigned exterior and interior. The rectangular two rows of headlights were replaced with one large squared headlight. A rectangular radiator grille was present that was divided by a horizontal slat. The Chevrolet logo was placed on the centre of the horizontal slat. The lower bumpers feature two squared gaps that can be used for towing vehicles.
The cabin was decorated with silver plastic or wood trims and a black dashboard. The front row of seats was divided by a wide centre console. The rectangular instrument cluster was replaced with a rounded one. To increase cargo space, the foldable second and third rows of seats were installed.
The car was powered by a 6.0-litre V8 engine. In some markets, the hybrid version was also offered by Chevrolet.
Fourth Generation Chevrolet Tahoe (2014 to 2020)
In the fourth generation, the two-row front fascia was revived, resembling old Chevrolet Tahoe models. The car features two sets of squared headlights that are submerged in each other. The radiator grille features horizontal slats and was segmented into two halves. The lower bumper was equipped with fog lights and the squared gaps were removed.
Inside the cabin, a wide centre console was present that also offers additional storage space. The dashboard features an 8-inch touchscreen radio, Blu-ray DVD player and other necessary controls. The redesigned instrument cluster was equipped with two large and four small dials.
For better safety, forward collision alert, lane change assist, radar, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert and magnetic ride control system were offered.
In this generation, Chevrolet offered a 5.3 and 6.2-litre V8 engine accompanied by Hydra-Matic 6-speed automatic transmission and AWD drivetrain system.
Fifth Generation Chevrolet Tahoe (2020 to Present)
The current generation of Chevrolet Tahoe comes equipped with all the necessary modern features. At the front, a split radiator grille is sandwiched between narrow headlights. A LED strip emerged from the headlights and connected with air intakes present on the large front bumper. At the rear end, rectangular brake lights are present.
The dashboard features an infotainment screen, AC vents and controls. The instrument cluster positioned behind the steering wheel is also redesigned. Moreover, the cabin also features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless charging, HD Surround Vision and rear pedestrian alert. It is also equipped with Chevrolet’s teen driver technology.
