Individual car owners, resident of Dubai can apply for an RTA tourism certificate for their vehicle. Companies in Dubai can also apply for this certificate for their vehicles.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR RTA TOURISM CERTIFICATE FOR VEHICLES
Here is the list of documents required for the RTA tourism certificate:
Individual car owners are required to submit the following documents:
- Emirates ID
- Vehicle ownership certificate
- If the car is under the mortgage, the applicant has to submit an electronic No Objection Certificate (eNOC) from the mortgage company
- Expats must submit an NOC from the Emirates Motorsports Organization (EMSO).
NOC from Emirates Motorsports Organization is not required if the applicant is an Emirati, GCC citizen, government corp or diplomat.

HOW TO APPLY FOR RTA TOURISM CERTIFICATE
Detailed here are the steps to follow when applying for a vehicle’s tourism certificate at a Customer Happiness Centre or a vehicle registration and inspection centre:
- Head to a front desk officer at the centre.
- The officer will provide a link to the applicant. Upload the above-mentioned required documents via the provided link.
- Once uploaded, the applicant will receive a transaction code.
- Provide the transaction code to the front desk officer.
- The officer then proceeds with the application, verifies and then signs the application electronically.
- Pay the applicable fees
- An e-certificate will be delivered to the applicant via SMS and Email
RTA TOURISM CERTIFICATE FEES AND VALIDITY
The service fee applicable on a tourism certificate from RTA depends on the type and vehicle capacity of the vehicle. Here is a breakdown:
- Light vehicle: AED 100
- 3 and 12 ton vehicles: AED 100
- 12+ ton vehicles: AED 200
- Motorcycle: AED 100
- Bus with a seating capacity of 14 to 26 passengers: AED 100
- Bus with a seating capacity of 26+ passengers: AED 200
- Light mechanical equipment: AED 100
- Heavy mechanical equipment: AED 200
AED 20+ Knowledge and innovation fees apply on all the vehicles mentioned above and AED 50+ to issue customs book.
The tourism certificate remains valid for a period of six months from the date of issue.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
These terms and conditions apply to the vehicle tourism certificate from RTA Dubai:
- The applicant or a legal representative should be present at the centre.
- All traffic fines incurred on the vehicle must be paid before applying for a tourism certificate from RTA.
- An authorisation letter must be provided by the car owner in case the vehicle is taken outside the UAE by another person. The car owner must be present at the centre and submit the driver’s driving licence.
- UAE nationals and GCC citizens should submit a no-objection certificate from the Emirates Motorsports Organization only if the vehicle is to be taken outside GCC countries.
- If the vehicle is to be transported outside the UAE via a cargo company, the applicant must get the cargo company name added to the vehicle tourism certificate

DO I NEED TO GET A TOURISM CERTIFICATE To DRIVE MY CAR TO QATAR OR ANY OTHER GCC COUNTRY FROM THE UAE?
UAE nationals and GCC citizens driving from Dubai to any of the GCC countries do not require the RTA tourism certificate. Also, they don’t need to get a no objection certificate from the Emirates Motorsports Organization.
