RTA Dubai Launches Smart App to Serve On-Demand Bus Routes
In an effort to provide easy access to public transport to everyone, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Dubai has now signed a contract with Arcab to introduce a smart app for medium sized buses in Dubai on a 3-month trial basis. This initiative has been taken to cater to the public demand of medium-sized bus services.

RTA APP FOR MID-SIZED BUSES
The contract between RTA Dubai and Arcab for an app for mid-sized buses was made in partnership with the Dubai Future Accelerators Programme, one of the Dubai Future Foundation initiatives. This initiative was taken in 2016 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council. The goal was to introduce new projects based on the latest technology in the Emirate to improvise important sectors.
The contract for the RTA app for mid-sized buses was driven by the idea of developing an advanced digital platform that can facilitate daily or frequent commuters in Dubai.
The RTA app for medium-sized buses in Dubai will be functional in two districts during the trial period. One route will travel between International City/ Dubai Silicon Oasis and Jebel Ali Free Zone. While the other will commute between International City and Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT). After the completion of a 3-month trial period, the service will be operational for 12 more districts in the Emirate. In this way, people will be able to travel to different destinations within the city easily.

According to the contract for the RTA app for mid-sized bus services, Arcab will integrate technology that would be essential for micro-mobility network management. This will help save operational costs. Moreover, by opening new routes for medium-sized buses in Dubai, the digital will further yield a demand for micro-mobility networks.
