The company was started in 1909 and was focused on creating different types of vehicles. However, during the era of 1902 to 1940 Maybach was the market leader in providing luxury cars. The vision was to produce cars with stylish exteriors powered by a strong engine for the elite class. The company was highly affected by the war, here history of the Maybach took a drastic turn. The brand name was sold to Daimler-Benz and was shelved for almost 37 years.

Here we have mentioned the generation of Mercedes-Maybach in detail.
First Generation (1919-1940)
The first car of this generation was designed by Karl Maybach in 1919. The W1 model generates 46 hp generated by a six-cylinder-side-valve engine. This luxurious car was powered by a high-speed gearbox and was only sold to royalties, elites, Kings and top athletes. A year later, W2 was released which created an automotive record by covering a distance of 30,000km in 37 days.
In the 1921 Berlin motor show, the W3 model was released. It was a five-meter-long vehicle with a in-line-six cylinder engine generating 70 hp. The car was famous for its speed, it can accelerate up to 110km/h. Around 300 units of this model were sold during the wartime. Maybach type 12 and W5 are also the most famous models of this generation.
Zeppelin (1930)
The launch of the Maybach Zeppelin DS 7 changed industry standards, and this car emerged as the luxury benchmark. This 3 tonnes car was equipped with attractive interiors and can speed up to 150 km/h. It contains an enlarged 7922 cubic centimeter engine that can generate 200 hp. The later models were also available with a seven-speed manual transmission system. This series continued till 1939 and was counted as one of the best models in Mercedes Maybach sedan history.
Second Generation (2002-2012)
When Mercedes-Benz took over Maybach, they stopped manufacturing cars under the Maybach banner instead it was used to manufacture engines and other parts. In 2002, the car once again hit the roads and instantly gained popularity. This is when Maybach 62, Maybach 57 and Landaulet-a convertible limousine were first launched.
The major reason for their popularity other than luxury was that they were the amalgamation of common car owners and designers. The car designers met with hundreds of people and asked them about their dream luxury cars, they then designed those models.
