Purosangue – The First SUV by Ferrari
Ferrari is known across the globe for producing luxury sports car. The brand’s automobiles feature a distinguished sporty look and offer ultimate speed. Ferrari is acing the race track with their track sports cars and has won 5000+ trophies to date.
One of the interesting facts about Ferrari is that since 1947, the brand never added a SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) to its lineup – until now.
Since many luxury and performance auto manufacturers have introduced SUVs, Ferrari will be launching its first power-packed SUV soon following the suite. The SUV is labelled as ‘Ferrari Purosangue’, and we witnessed its test mule in late 2018 on the Internet. Its prototype was based on the Ferrari GTC4Luss.
The CEO of the brand promises that the Purosangue SUV will exceed the customers’ expectations and despite being a family car, it will have all the features and specifications that will justify that it’s 100% Ferrari.
While the debut of the Ferrari Purosangue is expected in the coming months, let’s explore the new Ferrari Purosangue spec and what features will set this SUV apart from the rest.
ABOUT FERRARI PUROSANGUE
Ferrari is one of the famous Italian car brands that manufactures high-performance cars with the ability to yield maximum speed. Let’s have a look at the Ferrari Purosangue specs to know what to expect from the new SUV in terms of performance and speed.
V12 ENGINE IN THE HOOD
The new Purosangue SUV will be powered by a V12 engine that will set this apart from the conventional luxury SUVs on the market. Thus, you can expect the Ferrari SUV to yield around 800 hp.
Not only this, the Ferrari Purosangue SUV is designed to handle all types of terrains, backed by all-wheel drive and eight-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. However, the architecture of the new SUV by Ferrari is designed to accommodate a plug-in hybrid powertrain as well as an all-wheel drive (AWD). This architecture is similar to the Roma Coupe, which has a front mid-engine GT style.
Hence, another variant of the Ferrari SUV will follow the launch, powered by a hybrid twin-turbo 3.9-litre V8 engine that could yield 700 hp, approximately. Ferrari will boast a hybrid version to offer a more efficient version of the SUV to car enthusiasts.
FERRARI PUROSANGUE ARCHITECTURE
Since many auto manufacturers are merging their platforms, following the suite, Ferrari Purosangue will also run a front mid-engine GT-style platform, similar to Roma Coupe. This Ferrari platform is quite flexible and there is a small distance between firewall and engine.
FERRARI ACTIVE SUSPENSION TECHNOLOGY (FAST) IN THE SUV
The Ferrari Active Suspension Technology (FAST) will back the performance and agility of the Ferrari Purosangue. This suspension system was introduced by Ferrari in its models in the year 2018 to reduce and control the body roll of the vehicle. With FAST installed, the SUV will be able to produce maximum lateral acceleration. This is possible because the system is designed to drop a vehicle’s centre of gravity and lower the car. Therefore, the Ferrari Purosangue SUV’s performance is similar to a sports car, which was revealed during the factory test drive.
ELECTRIC VERSIONS OF FERRARI PUROSANGUE
The Pursoangue SUV’s platform is perfect to initiate Ferrari’s entry into the electrification era. The SUV features an extra height that can easily accommodate a large battery.
Ferrari is expected to launch its SUV’s electric spin-offs. These electric vehicles (EVs) are codenamed Ferrari F244 and Ferrari F245 for now and are expected to be introduced in 2024 and 2026. The EVs will feature four electric motors that can yield 610 bhp output. Besides, the motors will be backed by a lithium-ion battery pack. This fast-charging and the scalable battery will have a base capacity of 80kWh that can easily cover a range of 400+ km.
FERRARI PUROSANGUE DESIGN
The Ferrari Purosangue exterior design is far apart from traditional SUV design. The Purosangue design boasts a raised-up shooting brake aesthetic, a sleek and sporty look coupled with wagon-like proportions.
With the Ferrari personalisation programme, Ferrari owners are given the option to customise several elements of the exterior and interior. Let’s see if the personalisation option will also be open for Pursonague SUV.
