Not only is it perfect for those who are moving towards a greener lifestyle, it can also reduce the overall commute time and cost. Not to mention, the government is introducing many facilities to encourage the usage of electric scooters in the UAE.
Electric Scooter Advantages
There are a number of electric scooter advantages, including some health benefits as well. Common electric scooter advantages include:
- Eco-friendly
- Cost-effective
- Accessibility
- Easy storage
- Easy parking
- Health benefits
- Fun activity
Eco-friendly
Among all the electric scooters advantages, the benefit of being sustainable is a top contender. When compared with regular fuel cars, even motorcycles, electric scooters are a much more sustainable source of transportation. All you need to do is recharge them at the end of the day.
Electric motors are three times more efficient when compared with combustion engines. Commuting for one person on a 30-50- lb. e-scooter takes a fraction of the energy compared to a 3,000-4,000 lb. According to one study, electric scooters are more efficient per kilometre than the average combustion vehicle based on the energy needed to move them.
The batteries for e-scooters are powered by a grid relying on fossil fuels, but even then, the emissions per km from the electricity generation is negligible.
Cost-effective
Another advantage of electric scooters is that they have a cheaper purchase cost, and much more affordable when compared with regular motorbikes and or traditional cars. The only cost an e-scooter driver faces is recharging the battery!
Manoeuvrability
Perfect for a single rider, electric scooters are smaller than regular motorcycles and cars, therefore they have excellent manoeuvrability. Advantages of electric scooters include the ability to fit down small or narrow roads, paths, pavements, and bike lanes. Electric scooters are a great mode of commute for individuals in search of an easy way to go about the city.
Easy Storage and Parking
Naturally, because of the small size it is easy to store electric scooters. They can fit conveniently in small spaces in your home or at the workspace. Moreover, it is easy to park these small electric vehicles.
Health Benefits
Electric scooters enable riders to enjoy the fresh air while commuting and help maintain a balance and also play a vital role in strengthening the arm, thighs, shoulders and leg muscles. Moreover, electric scooter riding helps strengthen your lower body starting from the abdominal region to the hamstring.
Fun Activity
In addition to being economical and eco-friendly, a big benefit of electric scooters is that it’s a fun activity and an enjoyable way to get around. It’s a win-win combination of fun and safety. The speed limit is fast enough to be fun when riding e-scooters on the sidewalks or streets and slow enough to be within the given speed limit.
Electric Scooter Safety Awareness Campaign in the UAE
The smart mobility solution revolution has slowly started around different parts of the world including UAE. Because of the growing popularity of this mode of transport, authorities in the country launched a campaign about e-scooter safety.
The campaign encourages electric scooter riders to use designated zones and paths for their electric vehicle. It also asks riders to wear knee pads, helmets and reflective clothing – especially when commuting at night.
