All about Cadillac InnerSpace Concept
Autonomous, electric and luxury cars have their own set of well-known benefits. Considering this, a car that combines the benefits of these three into one would be the cherry on top. American automobile manufacturer Cadillac‘s InnerSpace is just exactly that. At the Consumer Electronics Show 2022 held in January 2022, Cadillac introduced the InnerSpace concept – a two-seater electric and fully autonomous luxury car.
So, without further ado, let’s learn about Cadillac’s InnerSpace Concept in detail.
What is Cadillac InnerSpace Concept
At its core, Cadillac’s newest self-driving car concept embodies their vision of Cadillac’s autonomous future and their focus on making mobility luxurious and eco-friendly. The latest entrant into the Cadillac Halo concept portfolio, InnerSpace is a two-seater fully autonomous and electric luxury car.
At the Consumer Electronics Show 2021, Cadillac unveiled the first two Halo concepts preceding the InnerSpace Concept: the PersonalSpace and the SocialSpace. The former refers to Cadillac’s autonomous all-electric aircraft concept while the latter refers to Cadillac’s concept of an autonomous car with a seating capacity of as many as six people.
Notable Features and Specifications of Cadillac’s InnerSpace
Now, let’s take a look at the notable features and specifications of Cadillac InnerSpace.
Environmentally Friendly Car Tyres
InnerSpace is equipped with tyres manufactured by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company – one of the top and longest-running tire manufacturing companies. The tires are made up of soybean oil and silica-rich rice husks and equipped with SoundComfort technology to attenuate the noise.
Soybean oil increases the suppleness of tyres at lower temperatures, providing more rubber flexibility and traction in cold weather. Furthermore, soybean oil blends better with rubber components in tyres, resulting in less energy usage and a much more effective manufacturing process. As silicon dioxide is important for a tyre’s efficient performance in wet weather, the silicon for InnerSpace tyres is sustainably sourced from the burning of rice husks.
Technology Package
As the car is capable of self-driving, InnerSpace does not have a steering wheel or pedal. It features an augmented reality-compatible curved screen that supports 3 preset themes. The Ultifi software platform allows General Motors and third-party developers to add new functionalities to the car via over-the-air modifications.
Other notable technological features available include voice recognition system whereby the driver can send the voice commands, biometric input technology for facial and fingerprint recognition and artificial intelligence machine learning that enables the car to acquire data about its surroundings.
Opulent Exterior and Interior
A lozenge-esque car, the InnerSpace is designed such that it looks like a road-going spaceship. The sloped roofline has panoramic glass, and the roof and doors open in tandem to facilitate entering and exiting the car. Moving to the interior, InnerSpace has a sofa-like seat which has a seating capacity of two people.
That is all we have about Cadillac InnerSpace Concept. Although many concept vehicles are eventually translated into production vehicles, there are no plans as of yet for this fully autonomous EV by Cadillac to enter production.
