WHAT IS VEHICULAR ATTENTION AND SAFETY TRACKER (VAST)?
The Abu Dhabi Digital Authority has developed a VAST radar system that automatically detects traffic safety violations such as not wearing of seat belt, using a phone while driving, and various other offences carried out by the citizens. This provides the authorities to maintain strict traffic rules as anyone violating the rules of conduct gets an SMS notification.
Vehicular Attention and Safety Tracker takes high-resolution images through artificial intelligence cameras. Once the authorities have caught a driver violating traffic rules, for example, despite the benefits of wearing a seat belt, drivers who violate the rule by not wearing it, receive a notification on their phone via SMS as well through email.

Abu Dhabi’s Vehicular Attention and Safety Tracker is designed to help minimise or completely avoid fatal vehicle accidents, traffic law violations and ensure road safety across Abu Dhabi. With this system installed, the idea is to raise awareness of safe driving, as well as intimidate careless drivers on the go.
The tracker has set up radar monitoring devices at various points across the city. Artificial intelligence technology allows the authorities to capture high-resolution pictures from these multiple points that are simultaneously examined by VAST.
