Car History: Suzuki Dzire
Suzuki, a century-old automobile brand, started its journey in Hamamatsu, Japan. Since then, Suzuki has been rolling off reliable yet simple vehicles that provide good value for money. Continuing this approach, Suzuki unveiled Dzire also known as Swift Dzrire in some regions in 2008. Dzire is a compact sedan known for effectively using space, advanced features and driveability. That said, the Dzire reflects the attention to detail and perfection that is also evident in other Suzuki cars.
Let’s elaborate further on the Suzuki Dzire history and discuss what Dzire brings to the table for its customers.
History of Suzuki Dzire
In recent decades, Suzuki has improved its exterior, vehicle specs and driver-assist features. That said, the recent improvement has helped Suzuki in becoming a popular automobile brand in different countries and UAE is no exception. According to the annual non-luxury 2022 car market report, Suzuki is among some of the most popular used car brands in the UAE.
Suzuki’s popularity in UAE testifies to the fact that the car is suitable for every weather condition and can cater to a larger audience. That being said, the following are the complete details of the Suzuki Dzire generations and their evolutions with time.
First Generation (2008 to 2012)
The first generation Dzire was released in 2008 as a sub-compact sedan under different names in different countries. Apart from Dzire, it was also named Suzuki Swift Dzire and Suzuki Swift sedan. The core reason for attaching Swift with the name was its resemblance to the car.
The exterior of the first-generation Dzire resembles that of a Swift released during the same period. At the front, the car features swept-back headlights and a narrow radiator grille. The front lower bumper has a large air intake sandwiched between two fog lights.
The interior of the car was simple with a large dashboard. Air vents, infotainment system and AC controls are clustered on the centre console. Whereas, a three-dial instrument cluster is present behind the steering wheel.
Under the hood, Suzuki offers a 1.2 and 1.3-litre petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission system.
Second Generation (2012 to 2016)
The second generation received a revised front fascia. The narrow radiator grille was enlarged with a metal slate in between. Smaller horizontal lines were introduced in the air intake on the lower bumper. Whereas, fog lights retained their position. The headlights and backlights have similar shapes as their predecessors but with more sharp and more pronounced angles.
Inside the cabin, no major changes were observed. The winged-shaped air vents were installed on the centre console and the three-dial instrument cluster was replaced with a two-dial.
In this generation, Suzuki offers 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine. The engine was accompanied by a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission system.
Third Generation (2017 to 2021)
The third-generation Suzuki Dzire was completely redesigned to cater to the shifting customer demands. Body contours were added to the front fascia which provides a hood with a pronounced shape. The narrow radiator grille was replaced with a large oval grille with slightly pointed edges. Narrow swept-back headlights with pointed edges were also installed.
In this generation, the interior was also uplifted. The buttons on the centre consoles were replaced with knobs and the shape of the air vents was also changed. Moreover, an advanced two-dial instrument cluster was embodied behind the steering wheel. Since the majority of car functions were automatic, controls were also present at the door handles.
The 1.2 and 1.3-litre engine was offered in different variations including hybrid, petrol and diesel engine. 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission systems were optional.
Current Generation of Suzuki Dzire (2022 to Present)
The current generation of Dzire has a more modern exterior with contours running from the front end to the back end. A large radiator grille spanning over the upper and lower bumper is present. The air vents and fog lights are submerged and positioned at the lower bumper.
The cabin is completely different from the preceding models. It features a large dashboard with controls present on the centre console. Under the air vents, a large infotainment screen is present. Moreover, a control panel is also installed at the end of the centre console for the rear seat passengers. The cabin also features a number of driver-assist and modern car safety features.
The car is powered by a 1.2-litre engine that provides the driver with the required speed and throttle.
This was the complete Suzuki Dzire history and details about its different generations. Since its inception, Dzire has offered a wide range of necessary features providing great value for money.
