With the growing number of vehicles in Dubai and new paid parking rules, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) took an initiative to facilitate student parking near their respective educational institutions. For this RTA launched issuance of Student Parking Permit Card service. The RTA student parking permit is one of the community-oriented services in lieu of RTA’s third strategic goal of ‘People Happiness.’
With an RTA student parking card, students can use public parking spots, labelled as A, B, C and D, around their respective campuses within a 500 meter radius.

RTA STUDENT PARKING PERMIT IN DUBAI APPLICATION PROCESS

ELIGIBILITY FOR RTA STUDENT PARKING PERMIT
The RTA student parking card is for those attending higher academic institutions, colleges and universities in Dubai. Thus, students at any level studying at the mentioned educational institutions can apply for the permit.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR RTA STUDENT PARKING PERMIT
Before applying for the parking card, make sure you have the following documents required for RTA student parking permit ready:
- Valid Dubai driving licence of the student.
- Present a document attested by your academic institution that certifies you are currently enrolled there.
- Vehicle ownership certificate in the name of the student. If the car is not ion the name of the student, then submit a vehicle ownership certificate of first or second degree relatives.
WAYS TO APPLY FOR RTA STUDENT PARKING PERMIT
There are two ways to apply for RTA student parking permit. You can either choose to apply via RTA Dubai official website or in-person from Customer Happiness Centre-Umm Ramool. The steps involved are detailed as under:
Here is what you need to do when applying for RTA student parking card online via RTA Dubai website:
- Log on the RTA website.
- Select the service ‘Apply for a Student Parking Permit’ from the Services tab.
- Fill the online form and submit the scanned copies of required documents.
- Applicant is notified via SMS, either it’s a rejection or approval of the application.
- You will receive a virtual parking permit valid only for parking around the campus.
- An SMS is sent with all the student parking permit details.
It is worthwhile to note that the process time is 2 to 5 working days.
Here detailed are a few steps that you need to follow if you are applying for RTA student parking permit from Customer Happiness Centre – Umm Ramool:
- Submit the documents at the Happiness Centre.
- A notification is sent via SMS to the applicant, either its an approval or rejection of the application.
- If the application is approved, you can pay the service fees and get the parking permit.
- The receipt of the payment and other parking permit details are sent via SMS and email.
SERVICE FEES FOR RTA STUDENT PARKING PERMIT
Students can apply for a parking permit for 3 months or for 30 days. Here is the service fees for RTA student parking permit, accordingly:
- For a 30-day valid student parking permit: AED 100
- For a 3-month valid student parking permit: AED 300
Also, no matter which period you choose, you need to pay additional AED 20, which is the Knowledge and Innovation fees by RTA.

Besides, the student parking card you receive lists the authorised parking spots, card type, validity period and your car’s registration number. It is important to note that the card can be used for parking of one car, however, students can add about three cars in one parking permit card. Make sure the RTA student parking card is on the windscreen and visible to avoid fines. Moreover, student parking permit by RTA cannot be used in other designated parking spots and is not applicable on other categories of car parking in Dubai.
