Hauntingly Luxurious: Concept Behind Ghostly Names of Rolls-Royce Cars
The history of Rolls-Royce is very rich with a long-tailed timeline. The origin of the company can be traced back to the nineteenth century. However, the fully-fledged production of Rolls-Royce cars started in 1906. Since the beginning of its journey, Rolls Royce followed a unique naming convention for its vehicles. Let’s find out more Rolls-Royce cars with spooky names.
Ghost
This is where it all began. The first vehicle that launched under the Rolls-Royce name was the Silver Ghost in 1906. However, the vehicle didn’t have its unique name initially. It was simply named ‘40/50’, which was based on its horsepower. However, the name was too simple for a luxury car, as a result, it was eventually renamed as the ‘Silver Ghost.’ The name was inspired by its appearance, which was well-received by stakeholders and audiences alike.
The original Silver Ghost led to the modern Rolls-Royce Ghost production, bidding farewell to Silver in the name. The Ghost series made a comeback in 2009. Since then, the luxury automaker has rolled out two generations of Rolls-Royce Ghost, offering premium car experiences. Moreover, the increasing customisation options became a major factor in attracting discerning buyers. There is a wide collection of used and new Rolls-Royce Ghost cars for sale in the UAE. It paints a picture of the car’s long-tailed and progressive evolution.
Phantom
Another interesting fact about Rolls-Royce was the launch of the Phantom series in 1925. The haunted naming convention added to the mystique of the brand. As a result, the Phantom was the luxury automaker’s second flagship vehicle in the timeline of Rolls-Royce cars with haunted names. Rolls Royce Phantom’s history spans over 100 years, that said, the car is still quite popular.
Given the premium car’s significant popularity, it is still going strong and widely available. There are various used and new Rolls-Royce Phantom models for sale in the UAE, giving luxury car buyers ample choices.
Wraith
The Wraith was another model that joined the ghostly Rolls-Royce car names in 1938. The mythical name comes from a Scottish word, which means a ghost or spirit. The earlier Wraith nameplate was in production for only a year. However, according to Rolls-Royce Wraith’s history, its modern version was rolled out in 2013 as a coupe.
The luxury car has witnessed significant advancements over the years. For instance, its latest model comes with the Starlight Headliner, a signature feature in modern Rolls-Royce cars. The used and new Rolls-Royce Wraith models for sale in the UAE offer this and plenty of awe-inspiring features.
Spectre
Joining the electric car bandwagon, Rolls-Royce rolled out a dedicated EV series. Since EVs are silent, Rolls-Royce named it ‘Spectre’, a ghostly figure that glides silently. The 2023 Rolls Royce Spectre pioneered the British luxury automaker’s electric car line-up. The Spectre is a full-size electric sedan with high-performance specs and Rolls-Royce’s signature design language. When buying a new Rolls-Royce Specter in the UAE, one can choose among GCC and European specs.
