In 1906, a gear wheel including an image of a Renault car that emerged victorious at the 1906 French Grand Prix replaced the medallion as the brand’s logo. Renault’s manager Louis Renault, in 1910, renamed the company Société des Automobiles Renault from Renault-Frères.

FT-17, armoured tanks manufactured by Renault, were instrumental in France’s (part of the Allies) win at WW1. To acknowledge this, the new logo featured this light tank. In 1922, Louis Renault renamed the company from Société des Automobiles Renault to Société Anonyme des Usines Renault.

In order for the emblem to be visibly better, Renault put a front-end insignia in 1923. It features a rounded grille with the Renault name in the middle and a line splits the emblem in half.
