New Fine Announced for Driving Below Minimum Speed on Major Roads in Abu Dhabi
The UAE’s state-of-art transportation system is well-known around the globe. Strong implementation of the law, road safety awareness programs and streamlined traffic rules all contribute to a smooth running system. To further enhance the transportation system and penalise those going against the laws, there are fines and penalties in place. For the capital city of Abu Dhabi, authorities have announced a new speeding fine.
Here are the details of the newest addition to the Abu Dhabi speeding fines.
New Abu Dhabi Speeding Fines
Abu Dhabi police announced a change in the speed limit on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road. Drivers going below 120 km/hr will be fined AED 400 as per the new guidelines. This is another addition to the Abu Dhabi traffic fines which will come into effect from May 1st, 2023.
The AED 400 Abu Dhabi new speed limit fine 2023 will be implemented on vehicles driving in the first two lanes from the left. Slow and moderate-speed vehicles will be allowed to drive on the third lane with no speed limit specified for this lane.
Whereas, the police emphasised that heavy vehicles should use the last lane. The last lane is also not covered under the Abu Dhabi speed limit change 2023.
Until the end of April, vehicles breaching the speed limit rule on specified lanes will be issued a warning. However, from May 1st, the police will start issuing a fine of AED 400 to drivers driving below the speed limit. Along with the speeding limit, drivers should be aware of the fast lane driving rules to avoid any conflict with the law.
Maximum Driving Speed
In addition to the Abu Dhabi minimum speed limit 2023, city police have also specified the maximum speed limit on the road which is kept at 140 km/hr. No grace will be granted in this regard.
New Speed Limits to Enhance Safety
The new Abu Dhabi speed limit fines can help enhance driver and road safety. With this initiative, faster vehicles can all stay in a single lane and keep up with the speed limits while the slower ones can be in another lane.
