REGISTRATION FOR RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY (MOVE-IN)
When you buy a residential apartment in Sharjah, you can easily apply for electricity and water connection services as a landlord or owner. Moreover, a tenant can apply for a SEWA connection with the landlord’s approval. Here are the documents required for registering a new SEWA connection:
- Tenancy contract signed by the landlord and tenant.
- Copy of the Emirates ID of the tenant.
- Previous clearance certificate of the premises.
- Landlord (ownership certificate)
PROCEDURE FOR THE TENANT
When you rent an apartment in Sharjah or any other type of residential property, you have to follow the procedure as a tenant to apply for a connection.
- Submit the application at the concerned service centre
- Emiratis or nationals need to sign a special undertaking
- Pay a fixed security deposit according to the leased unit type
- A service agreement is executed as per the tenancy agreement
- Attestation of the tenancy contract from the Sharjah Municipality

The applicant must submit the following documents to avail of SEWA new connection at the commercial property in Sharjah:
- Trade licence or commercial registration copy
- Economic Department’s signed inspection report
- Approval of the Tenancy Contract signed by the Landlord and Tenant
- Clearance certificate of the premises.

REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR GOVERNMENT ENTITY
Government entities must submit the following documents to the SEWA office for the activation of the required connection:
- No objection certificate (NOC) from the federal or local government.
- Original Tenancy Contract (for the leased unit)
- Ownership or title deed
Besides, the following procedure needs to be carried out for activation of a new SEWA connection:
- Submit the application to the SEWA customer happiness centre
- The customer happiness centre will direct the transaction to the Government Departments & Ministries Section.
- Execution of Service Agreement.
