The A2RL now has broader international participation, an advanced platform and upgraded autonomous race cars. The event also has expanded international participation, including France and Japan joining as newcomers, alongside the USA, Germany, China, Singapore, Italy and the UAE. The STEM-backed race will also include dune buggies, drones, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/off-road-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">off-roading<\/a> races and Dallara-built Super Formula Cars.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A2RL has introduced the SIM-Sprint, a series of virtual races that help teams test AI driving systems more rapidly in controlled conditions. This year-round platform accelerates development beyond real-world testing, especially for handling rare \u2018edge cases\u2019 in autonomous driving. In the future, it will expand to fans, developers and aspiring teams through a tiered system: Sim Academy, Sim Pro and eventually real-world A2RL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-initiatives-at-the-abu-dhabi-autonomous-racing-league\">Initiatives at the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The automotive industry has witnessed a rise in autonomous vehicles in recent years. Likewise, autonomous racing has also gained ground across the globe. These vehicles are equipped with advanced features such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/lidar-autonomous-driving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LiDAR technology<\/a> and control systems that offer a safe ride.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides, apart from being a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/car-racing-types\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">type of car racing<\/a>, autonomous racing has paved the way for new research. They are as follows:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-autonomous-car-race\">AUTONOMOUS CAR RACE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For A2RL Season 2, the EAV-24 has been transformed into the EAV-25, based on the Super Formula SF23 platform. It features major upgrades in safety, reliability and powertrain performance. To boost reliability, the engineering team improved key systems, including the steering, GNSS and 5G antennas, as well as electronics and motorsport-grade wiring looms. Safety has also been enhanced with new 12V and 48V batteries featuring an integrated management system, a secondary IMU for redundancy and a hydraulic emergency braking system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The powertrain of the EAV-25 has been refined for better performance and efficiency. Upgrades include a smaller, more stable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/car-alternators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">alternator<\/a>, a redesigned fuel line to prevent leakage and shorter gearbox ratios for improved track performance. Additionally, gearbox calibration has been refined to deliver smoother shifts and progressive power delivery, ensuring speed and reliability on the track. The car weighs around 690 kg and can reach speeds of up to 300 km\/h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-autonomous-drone-race\">AUTONOMOUS DRONE RACE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The A2RL Autonomous Drone Championship is a cutting-edge AI sporting event where fully autonomous drones race at high speeds on complex tracks without any human intervention. These races challenge AI pilots to perceive, decide and adapt in real time, showcasing the limits of machine intelligence in dynamic environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond racing, the self-driving car racing league in Abu Dhabi serves as a global testbed for research in robotics, autonomy and AI safety, with real-world applications in mobility and logistics.
