The second generation of Chevrolet Malibu’s history came out in 1968 with slight modifications. The wheelbase for coupes and convertibles was now 112 inches. Meanwhile, the sedans and wagons housed a 116-inch extended wheelbase<\/a>. The engines offered remained the same from the old Chevrolet Malibu models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third generation was introduced with a new body frame but kept the previous wheelbases. The length was increased by five inches and the width was extended by an inch. Malibu became Chevelle\u2019s entry trim level in 1974. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new model Malibu classic was launched which became the top variant. It was offered in coupes, sedans and body wagon styles. The engine options that were offered included V8 and 4.1-litre inline-six units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the debut of the fourth generation, the Chevrolet Malibu became an independent model. The Chevrorlet Malibu models were offered in sedan, coupe and station wagon body styles. The dimensions were downsized a foot shorter. The vehicle body was made 227 kg lighter than the former generations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third generation was available in two trim levels: Malibu and Malibu Classic. Engine options for both the trims included a 3.3-litre V6 engine<\/a> and a V8 engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHEVROLET MALIBU FIFTH GENERATION (1997-2003)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Chevrolet discontinued the Malibu model in 1983. However, in 1997 the fifth generation was reintroduced in the markets in the mid-sized sedan category. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The front fascia featured horizontal headlights with rounded corners and a four-slat grille. Fog lights were added to the top trim level while coloured car-door handles and mirrors were available for both models. The rear featured a tall trunk and an inclined windscreen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fifth-generation of Chevrolet Malibu models were available in Base and LS models. The interior was equipped with bucket seats and an AM\/FM radio. The dashboard and instrument panel had a simple layout. The car speedometer<\/a> and tachometer came with large dials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Base level had a 2.4-litre inline-four engine<\/a> that generated power of 141 hp. Meanwhile, the LS model offered a 3.1-litre V6 engine. The sixth generation of Chevrolet Malibu featured the Malibu sedan and Malibu SS (Super Sport) model. A Malibu Maxx model was also introduced which was a five-door extended sedan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The front fascia of the SS model featured a black mesh grille and the Chevrolet bow-tie logo. The trunk lid came equipped with a small spoiler. A dual chromed exhaust was added under the bumper. The car housed a wheelbase<\/a> of 106 inches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interior was decorated with bolstered bucket seats and a three-spoke steering wheel. A wide speedometer between the tachometer and fuel and temperature gauges was installed in the instrument cluster<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
