XPeng, the Chinese manufacturer of electric cars, tested the first public flight of its flying car in Dubai. The Chinese brand sought special permission from the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) for the flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight took place at Skydive Dubai which provided perfect air conditions for the future vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle recorded the breathtaking views of the city when it went aerial. The groundbreaking event took place on 11th October 2022 at the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 150 people including some prominent government officials witnessed history in the making. The flying car launch in Dubai gave a glimpse into the future of mobility. Xpeng X2 is the fifth generation flying car produced by the Chinese manufacturer, Xpeng. However, this isn\u2019t the first instinct of the company producing flying vehicles. Xpeng X2 is the improved version of the previously launched prototypes – T1 and X1, developed in 2019 and 2020 respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flying car is far from a traditional vehicle. The exterior of the future car required special additions to ensure a safe ride in the air. Similarly, the structure needed to resemble a car other than a helicopter or plane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The full carbon airframe in the tear-shaped vehicle provides endurance. Four fans on each side give the vehicle a look expected of a flying car. The interior of the vehicle has a seating capacity of two. The interior is made from premium carbon fibre materials to provide extra comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The smart cockpit allows passengers to navigate with predetermined destinations. The smart system takes care of the route and landing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rise of electric and solar cars<\/a> has proven the change of interest towards environment-friendly vehicles. As a futuristic vehicle, Xpeng X2 comes with zero carbon emissions. The zero emission factor also makes the future vehicle safe for the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the Xpeng motors flying car in Dubai took a driverless flight, it still has a maximum carrying capacity of 760 kilograms. The vehicle itself weighs 560 kilograms. Xpeng X2 is driven by eight propellers, with two located in each corner of the craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The all-electric flying car can attain a maximum speed of 130 kilometres per hour and has a cruise altitude of about 984 to1,640 feet. Additionally, Xpeng X2 has a 35-minute flight time – making it ideal for low altitude and short distance commutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The four independent battery packs and multi-motor power backup ensures the passengers have running backup in unprecedented conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, autonomous flight planning and return and landing can further enhance the travelling experience. Moreover, to further enhance the safety of passengers, there is an airframe parachute. The quick-response parachute can come in handy in the event of an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
