FIRST GENERATION – 2003 TO 2005<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Introduced in 2002 as a 2003 model, the first generation of Honda Pilot was a three-seater SUV with a capacity of seating 8. The third row was comparably small and made it difficult to accommodate large passengers. However, space was never an issue with the Honda Pilot. The foldable middle and rear seats provided some extra cargo space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the first generation, the Honda Pilot was introduced with three engines. Originally, the model was introduced with a 3.5-litre, V6 engine<\/a>. The 2003 and 2004 models were able to deliver 240 horsepower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Honda Pilot history witnessed an engine upgrade in the 2005 models. The engine upgrade increased the horsepower to 255. The 2006 models of Honda Pilot came with an option for buyers to choose from a four-wheel-drive or a front-wheel-drive system. The Honda Pilot history also witnessed the retirement of the variable torque management system. Both the new versions came with a 244 horsepower engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every vehicle in the first generation came with a five-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the facelift came with the Honda variable cylinder management system. Additionally, traction control and anti-lock braking system<\/a> included in all pilot modes ensured safety and handling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second generation also included a powered rear tailgate – making loading and unloading in the cargo compartment easier. The second generation was introduced in 4 basic trims, LX, EX, EX – L and touring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some trims included premium features such as a power moonroof, tri-zone climate control, and a satellite navigation system. All the features added to enhanced safety and comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2013, the Honda Pilot history saw the introduction of a rearview camera system in all the models. Bluetooth hands-free calling was also introduced in the models. Some additional safety features included traction control, vehicle stability assist and side-impact airbags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2015 model was introduced in a special trim. The Honda Pilot features in the special edition consisted of a moonroof, a rear-seat infotainment system and satellite radio capability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third generation changed the history of Honda Pilot in terms of design and features. The overall design became sleekier as compared to the square-shaped earlier models. Additionally, the exterior included daytime running lights and LED headlights. Some models also included 20-inch tyres. The third generation weighed about 316 kilograms less than the preceding generation yet it was larger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 3.5-litre V6 engine delivered 280 horsepower<\/a> – 30 hp more than the previous generations. It was offered in two transmissions – a six-speed automatic transmission on basic trims and a 9-speed automatic transmission on the higher-end trims. Buyers had the option to choose from a front-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honda Pilot was also introduced in an elite trim with some premium features like LED projector headlights, panoramic sunroof, and rain-sensing wipers among several others. Besides the Elite, other trims included Touring, EX, EX – L and LX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
