In an attempt to make public transport even more accessible to everyone, RTA Dubai plans to extend the bus and taxi lanes in Dubai. The upcoming project of exclusive bus and taxi lanes in the Emirate is expected to take place between 2023 \u2013 2027. Let\u2019s get into the details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The RTA endorsed five-year plan will add eight main streets: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. 2nd December Street<\/li>
  2. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street<\/li>
  3. Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Street<\/li>
  4. Amman Street<\/li>
  5. Al Satwa Road<\/a><\/li>
  6. Al Nahda Street<\/li>
  7. Omar bin Al-Khattab Street <\/a><\/li>
  8. Naif Street <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    This will increase the total length of exclusive RTA bus<\/a> and taxi lanes in Dubai to 48.6 km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    According to Mattar Al Tayer, the director-general and chairman of the RTA Board of Executive Directors, dedicated bus and taxi lanes have proved to be successful globally to encourage individuals to use public transport instead of private vehicles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    He also emphasised on how dedicated bus and taxi lanes have proven successful in regards to reducing travel time in major metropolitan cities in Europe and America and Europe. As a result, there is an increased compliance with on-time bus departures and taxi arrival times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The upcoming RTA bus and taxi lane extension program will encourage public to use mass transport means, this in turn will also help reduce pollution and traffic congestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    RTA aims to make public transport easier for users. Staying true to this purpose, RTA Dubai <\/a>already has a service whereby residents can propose new routes via the RTA App<\/a> according to their convenience.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    By 2030, the extension of bus and Dubai taxi<\/a> lanes is expected to contribute to a 30 per cent increase in public transport rides on some streets and will also help minimise the requirements of additional buses because of the journey time saved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    During peak hours, the project is expected to increase the average bus speed and minimise travel time by 40%.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
