First launched in 2008, the X6 redefines comfort, luxury and performance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To learn more about this flagship car model, here is a BMW X6 history that outlines all the highlights. Let\u2019s go through it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bmw-x6-history-and-timeline\"><strong>BMW X6 History And Timeline<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/bmw-car-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">history of BMW<\/a> has several chapters of innovation and venture. Among them, the X6 was a decision to carve out a new niche in the automotive industry called <em>Sport Activity Coupe (SAC)<\/em>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides, when the X6 debuted in 2008, it showcased the versatility of an SUV with the sleek coupe design. It immediately captured the attention of car enthusiasts, and the X6\u2019s journey began. Today, the X6 is among the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/popular-used-suv-uae\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">most popular used BMW SUVs in the UAE<\/a>, which shows its popularity even in the pre-owned car market.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is the evolution of the BMW X6 and its progress over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-first-generation-2008-2014\">FIRST GENERATION (2008-2014)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The first generation of the X6 was inspired by the second <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/bmw-x5-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">generation of the BMW X5<\/a> to some extent. The SUV now featured redesigned headlights and subtle tweaks to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/car-grilles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">car grille<\/a> design. Besides, the interior now had third-row seating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the engine lineup, BMW added an active hybrid variant for the X6. It was equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/awd-in-cars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">all-wheel drive system<\/a>, generating up to 485 horsepower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-second-generation-2014-2019\">SECOND GENERATION (2014-2019)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The second generation of the BMW X6 history rolled out in 2014 and became an instant hit. The SAC featured exterior elements that the X5 model inspired. The dashboard featured a non-retractable pop-up infotainment screen. Meanwhile, the instrument cluster retained the classic BMW dials for fuel level, speedometer, oil temperature and tachometer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A tall centre console provided ample storage, housing the iDrive knob and gear selector for the automatic transmission. They were all-wheel drive systems, paired with an eight-speed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/automatic-transmission-types-pros-cons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">automatic transmission<\/a>. The engine lineup included the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>xDrive50i:<\/strong> Equipped with a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, delivering approximately 450 horsepower.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>xDrive35i:<\/strong> Featuring a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine, generating around 306 horsepower.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-third-generation-2019-present\">THIRD GENERATION (2019- PRESENT)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The third and current generation in the history of the BMW X6 made its way in 2019. The trendsetter SAV featured 22-inch rims with BMW\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/signature-car-grilles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">signature car grille<\/a> on the front. The overall silhouette of the car appeared bolder and bigger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interior was upgraded with five-passenger seating and a wider centre console. Besides, BMW added multiple infotainment features in the new generation of the X6. Currently, the X6 flaunts a sweeping roofline and slim air vents. The headlights have been redesigned in a V-shaped, complemented by daytime running lights that point outward.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cabin features standard sports seats and a redesigned digital dashboard. It showcases a 12.3-inch instrument panel and a 14.9-inch touchscreen for the latest version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/bmw-idrive-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BMW iDrive system<\/a>. In the rear, the X6 has a split-folding bench (40\/20\/40) that could increase cargo space from 580 to 1,530 litres.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the current X6 offers the following engine options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The xDrive40i features a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine with a 48-volt hybrid system.
