They are a convenient option for daily commuters and many use them while travelling on the Metro and Tram. However, the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) recently announced a Dubai Metro e-scooter ban, effective from March 1st, 2024. It means that e-scooter riders will no longer be allowed to take their rides inside the city\u2019s Metro and Tram systems.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let us go into the details of this Dubai metro e-scooter ban by RTA and the reason behind it.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-reasons-why-e-scooters-are-banned-in-dubai-metro-and-tram-stations\">Reasons Why E-scooters Are Banned in Dubai Metro and Tram Stations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/all-about-e-scooters-in-dubai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">E-scooters in Dubai<\/a> offer a convenient and eco-friendly transport alternative. They help navigate the city&#8217;s bustling streets with ease, offering residents and tourists an efficient way to get around. In addition, many people use e-scooters as a cost-effective means of commuting to transport stations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, RTA has banned e-scooters in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/dubai-metro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dubai Metro<\/a> and tram stations from March 1st, 2024 due to passenger safety. As per the latest rule, commuters are not allowed to carry their e-scooters inside the Metro and Tram systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to this, commuters could carry their foldable bicycles and board the metro and tram.&nbsp; However, after Dubai has banned e-scooters on Metro and Tram, they can now park the mobility devices outside the station or carry them across the stations\u2019 footbridges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to the potential fire hazards associated with e-scooters, the RTA has implemented a ban on their usage within the Metro and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/dubai-tram\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tram system in Dubai<\/a>. In addition, e-scooters are a common reason for delays in public transport stations causing haphazard parking and blocked sidewalks. One such incident was a significant delay at the Onpassive Metro Station caused by smoke emitted from one of the e-scooters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To prioritise passenger safety, the authority has imposed this ban without specifying a timeframe for its duration.
