The T100 featured a standard cab with a long bed. Toyota initially planned to launch a larger pickup truck with the T150 nameplate. However, due to its similarity to Ford&#8217;s F-150, the decision was made to adopt the name Tundra. It featured the 3.4-litre V-6 engine as its base engine from 2000 to 2004. The successor was a 4.0-litre V-6 engine for 2005-2006.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was an optional 4.7-litre V-8 engine which was also installed in the <a href=\"https:\/\/uae.dubizzle.com\/motors\/used-cars\/toyota\/land-cruiser\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Land Cruiser<\/a> and Lexus LX 470. The first-generation Tundra was available in both automatic and manual transmission. The second generation of the Toyota Tundra received recognition as the Truck of the Year for 2008 by various American publications.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The engine line-up of the truck saw the addition of the 5.7-litre V-8 engine with 381 horsepower. There was also an option of the optional bolt-on TRD supercharger kit, which boosted output to 504 horsepower. Moreover, the 4.7-litre engine was replaced by the 4.6-litre V-8 engine. Similarly, the 4.0-litre V-6 engine also received a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/car-horsepower\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">horsepower<\/a> increase while the v-6 engine option was still available.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were no manual transmissions available in the second generation of Toyota Tundra. All of the variants and trim levels were offered with auto transmission. The second-generation Tundra introduced the car body type with a four-door crew cab. The Platinum trim of the heavy-duty truck was also introduced in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2014-the-year-of-significant-redesign\">2014 &#8211; The Year of Significant Redesign<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We have come a long way in the history of Toyota Tundra. The year 2014 was a year of significant refresh. The very first thing anyone noticed about the refreshed design was the upgraded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/car-grilles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">car grille<\/a>. The look of the fenders, tailgate, taillights and interior were also noticeably changed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides the design and structural changes, engine options were not changed. The truck was available with 4.0-litre V-6 engine, 4.6-litre and&nbsp;5.7-litre V-8 engines. The 2014 model of Tundra was equipped with an array of advanced driver assistance systems. Given its rugged usage, the 2014 Tundra came with stability and traction control, trailer sway control and anti-lock braking system.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, for enhanced performance, the TRD edition of the 2014 Tundra was also installed with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dubizzle.com\/blog\/cars\/auto-lift-kits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">auto lift kits<\/a>. The Tundra line-up was shrunk in 2015 and the following years. The 4.0-litre V-6 engine option was discontinued for model year 2015.
