Tesla has introduced a new immersive experience called Tron Mode, inspired by Disney’s film Tron: Ares. Available with the Tesla software update 2025.38.3, the feature adds a cinematic touch to the in-car experience through sound, visuals and lighting.
Activating Tesla Tron Mode via Toybox
The Tron mode in Tesla vehicles is activated from the Tesla Toybox feature. As a result, the car’s cabin transforms with a distinct red lighting theme. The system plays the Tron: Ares intro soundtrack after the Tesla startup sound that sets the tone for the futuristic experience. Tesla owners can refer to their car’s owner manual to learn more about the activation and availability of the feature
Tesla Visualisation Update and Audio Enhancements
A key highlight of Tron Mode is Tesla’s driver dismount animation. When parked, the visualisation on the centre display shows the driver standing beside a motorbike-style vehicle, mirroring the aesthetic of the Tron universe. The Tesla visualisation update also introduces acoustic features. These include Tron-style turn signal and lock sounds, both inspired by the film’s digital and sound effects.
Integration with Tesla’s Entertainment Experience
This Tesla Tron: Ares mode is part of the company’s ongoing effort to blend entertainment and interactivity into the driving experience. It is much like the other modes previously released as part of the Toybox feature, such as the Santa Mode.
Santa Mode in Comparison
Alongside Tron Mode, Tesla continues to offer other themed experiences, such as Santa Mode. It was released long before Tesla Tron Mode update 2025. Santa Mode transforms the vehicle’s on-screen visualisation into a festive scene. When enabled, the car appears as Santa’s sleigh, reindeer lead the way and holiday music plays. This Tesla visual mode update is another example of how a creative approach to vehicle software can be useful, fun and immersive.
