1810 – 1850
The first Peugeot logo was designed in 1810. The first logo featured a lion with sharp teeth representing the brand’s steel products strength and depicting the company being durable.
1850 – 1889
During this time period the lion featured in the logo was darker and brighter. The logo was given a darker black tone while the outlines remained the same.
1889 – 1910
A jeweller was hired by the Peugeot brothers to draw the new logo. In 1985, this logo became the company’s trademark. The logo placed in a coat of arms shaped frame had a modern element. From 1810 to 1910, the lion representing Peaugeot’s logo stood on an arrow.
1905 – 1910
This was a totally new look. The lion mascot was placed inside a vertical oval badge in an ornamental frame. The name “Peugeot” was placed on the upper part, and “Paris” was placed under the oval. In the background there were several rays appearing from the logo’s centre.
1910 – 1927
The logo was redesigned in an interesting voluminous way whereby light grey gradients were used. The 1910 logo represented a lion holding a small arrow in its paw.
1927 – 1936
During this time period, the logo was redesigned in black accompanied by a rectangular black banner in 1927. This banner was black in colour and the brand name Peugeot was written on it in white.
1936 – 1948
The colour palette of Peugeot was changed to dark yellow and blue. In this logo, the lion diagram was facing towards the left, it was solid blue in colour, standing on top of a blue arrow. Under the arrow, there were numerous thin blue lines.
1948 – 1955
In 1948, the Peugeot logo got a total revamp. Taking inspiration from the Franche-Comté coat of arms, this new logo was located on a shield with a rectangular frame.
1950 – 1960
Starting from 1950, the French company started using a simple traditional lion as its official logo. The lion was executed in solid black and could be placed on any background. The badge Peugeot automobiles adorned during this era were made in silver metal.
1955 – 1960
In 1955 the brand changed its black logo to the shield-style frame. In this logo, the lion was designed in blue placed in a blue triangular shape against a white background.
1960 – 1968
During this time period, the logo featured a three-dimensional logo featuring the lion’s head, while the shape of the logo still resembled the coat of arms. The letters were bold and with strict diverse lines.
1968 – 1975
This was just a simplified version of the previous one. This logo featured a flat head of a lion with golden to chrome colour schemes. As compared to the previous logo, this emblem one was minimalistic.
1975 – 1998
In 1975, the lion outline logo was introduced. This logo featured a futuristic rampant lion made of silver silhouette. Placed against a black background. Later on, in 1976, the blue colour was replaced with black and the logo became bright and lively.
1998 – 2002
In 1998, the Peugeot brand logo featured a white lion standing against a blue background solid square. The brand’s name appeared in a strong bold sans-serif typeface in white.
2002 – 2010
In 2002, the lion got bigger paws, while other design elements were slightly modified.
2010 – 2021
This logo had a metallic colour palette and a 3D effect. While the brand name, “Peugeot” was executed in blue.
2021 – Today
The visual identity of the blog was totally changed in 2021. The models feature a stylish portrait of a lion in a classy black crest with a double white outline. The brand’s name appears in sans-serif above the head of the brand’s mascot.
