Mclaren Artura Spider Review and Specs
Artura is among the noteworthy contenders of the McLaren car lineup in the UAE. The design and performance upgrades introduced in the nameplate will significantly enhance its stature. According to McLaren Automotives CEO Michael Leiters, the Artura Spider convertible brings “another dimension of open-air McLaren supercar exhilaration”.
As an innovative addition to the list of hybrid supercars in Dubai, the Artura Spider boasts innovative specs. Let’s detail them all.
Mclaren Artura Spider Specs for Performance
Continuing its legacy, the upcoming Artura lineup is a powerhouse of performance. Both the Artura Spider and coupe are equipped with a 3.0-litre V6 engine. The vehicles also have an E-motor powertrain that produces a combined 700PS (690 hp) The supercars come with a petrol engine with an output of over 200PS per litre.
With a top speed of 330 km/h, the Artura Spider also has blazing-fast sprinting capabilities like the coupe. Have a look:
- 0-100 km/h in 3 secs
- 0-200 km/h in 8.4 secs
- 0-300 km/h in 21.6 secs
Once launched, the car will join the league of the fastest-accelerating production cars. Many advanced factors make these two McLaren supercars lightweight and more performance-oriented. For instance, it features a M630 dry-sump aluminium petrol engine, which is very compact and lightweight. For context, it weighs 50 kg less than the McLaren V8 engine. Moreover, Pirelli Cyber Tyre technology generates real-time data for the drivers.
The Artura’s V6 overall performance is complemented by the compact axial flux E-motor. Found in the transmission bell housing, the compact motor generates 95 PS (93.7 hp) and 225 Nm torque. Its power density per kilogramme is 33% greater than the McLaren P1, another popular hypercar by the luxury brand.
McLaren Artura Driving Experience
The Artura features four different driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Track and the E-mode (EV mode). When in Comfort mode, the vehicle switches between electric and petrol power. As a result, the combustion engine shuts off at low speeds and is redeployed as needed for acceleration.
Similarly, Sport and Track modes utilise the engine and electric motor more aggressively. The system switches up its gear-shifting strategies for enhanced responsiveness and acceleration. E-mode is the car’s default driving mode. It is designed to offer an extended emissions-free driving range.
McLaren Artura Convertible Exterior
With McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA) at its heart, the design of the car is distinctly Artura. However, a stand-out addition in the Spider convertible is the Retractable Hard Top (RHT). The nameplate’s striking appearance is maintained with intricately sculpted bodywork, signature ‘hammerhead’ nose and integrated front fender louvres. The headlight air intakes further add to the car’s aerodynamics.
In the convertible, there are also newly designed rear polycarbonate buttresses. These important exterior components house the rollover structure and have a glazed section to improve rear visibility. These purposeful design features also channel the air into the engine bay. Furthermore, the side profile of the car is accentuated with the 15-spoke wheels that come in a standard silver finish.
When it comes to exterior colour choices, the car is available in five standard colours. Moreover, there is an extended range of exterior paint finishes. In addition to the standard ones, there are 20 ‘Elite’ colour options and 18 MSO exterior paint choices. The McLaren 750S Spectrum Theme by MSO is an example of how creative the luxury brand gets with colours.
