Barasti, still one of the hottest places in Dubai. Barasti is a great place to socialize with friends, enjoy a few drinks and maybe meet a few new "single" people on the way. With ample outdoor seating including a downstairs "lounging area" right on the beach this is a must do venue in Dubai, particularly during the cooler fall and winter months. Their food is pretty spectacular too.

Lemongrass has to be THE best Thai restaurant in town! Bang opposite Lamcy Plaza, this restaurant has me craving for their food at any time of the day!

With parking issues all over Dubai, Lemongrass has the best location, being situated right next to a huge parking lot with ample space.

Having gone there on a Friday evening, they asked us if we had a reservation. Unfortunately, we had underestimated the popularity of the place and didn't bother making one. However, they took down our number and within half an hour (we were still in the car considering our options) called to say that they had a table free. Hurrah!

Our table was inside the restaurant, which was good considering the Dubai weather, but they were two tables outside, which looked tres romantic :)

The ambiance inside was perfect. With the right amount of lighting (including candles), just correct volume of the soft music playing in the back and comfy chairs, it set the mood right!

With a wide variety to choose from, we were lost as to where to start from! The menu boasted beef, seafood and chicken dishes, but lacked anything vegetarian. The waitress patiently answered our queries (too lazy to read the English description below the Thai names of dishes) and took our orders, only to return in a quick 12 minutes with our food.

The food was incredible! We tried beef and seafood, and every dish was absolutely delicious! The beef was cooked just right and the crab was out of the world. The food was only as spicy as we asked it to be, dispelling the "too hot to handle" myth about Thai food. Stuffed with the main course, we unfortunately had no room for dessert though their descriptions were good enough to make our mouth water.

The bill was around AED 120 for two persons and I would say that it was worth every Dirham!

All in all, highly recommended by me and a must must MUST try!

From the moment the door staff let you inside and your feet find the first few steps of the four flight climb, you know you're in for a treat. You can hear the music pumping, you can feel you heart start to race and after the first beverage slips eagerly down your throat, you know the night has only just begun. Zinc gives the feeling of a small, cosey nightclub that's grown up. For a great time and the possibility of making new frinds, head to Zinc. The music's great, you won't break the bank and who know's, you might find that special someone. ;-)

Eclectic. That's the best word I could use to describe Smiling BKK. Okay, and perhaps 'a dive' (N.American for an undesirable place) However, if asked to rate this place on a scale from 1-10, it would get a 12.

It's a stand out in a sea of uniformity here in good ol' Dubai. In a place where face value and 5-stars always comes first, it's nice to have somewhere to go where you can wear sweats and sandles and be one of the best dressed in the crowd.

As someone who has spent a lot of time in Thailand I can assure you the food (no matter what you order) is just like being there. Probably the hardest part of dining at BKK is trying to stop yourself from going over the menu several times to try and find the funniest meal name (ie. "Fuk You' and 'Fuk Me' )

Goofy names aside, the tiny atmosphere and dozens of multi-coloured light fixtures give you a taste of what a seedy Thai restaurant may look like in the back alleys of Bangkok. Staffed by some of the nicest people I've ever met, they are at your service lick-a-dee split with the help of a tambourine.

With an average meal costing less than 30AED, you may wish to order two items just to try them- though one is more than enough to fill you up.

Despite needing a sophisticated CIA type GPS system to find this place, it is without a doubt one of the best places in Dubai to meet for dinner (if you can get a table)

I give it two Pad-Thai covered thumbs up.

A full flavored Indian experience in every way! From the moment you arrive at the Rupee Room, the tranquil sitar music eases you into a rich world of comfort and tranquility. Greeted by knowledgeable and charming staff, you are ushered through the dinning room to your table and bucket chair laid out before a full length window into the kitchen. As immaculate chefs prepare a range of impressive ingredients with licks of flame and sizzling pans, it's hard to concentrate on the extensive menu. It all looks so good and the best news is that you won't be disappointed. With dishes to share we tried the quite frankly superb stuffed lamb and the flavours were terrific. The chefs produce a range of home made and fresh flavours that combine with assured confidence only years of experience can provide. You won't find the same tired curry dishes here as you might expect in the UK but individual brilliance at a price that won't leave you as burnt as the garlic and chili nan breads. A hidden gem in the Dubai Marina that's as perfect for couples as it is for larger groups. Highly recommended.

The worlds tallest building, star lit ceilings, and familiar faces from the original Left Bank Madinat Souq make the new residence at Downtown Burj an ideal refresher from the usual scene.

Enjoy the vibrant ambience in private eating booths which allow for a quiet escape from the lively bar area and choose from an extensive list of world class cocktails, international beers and old favourites which Left Bank is known for.

If its something new, but not completely foreign you are looking for, Left Bank Downtown Burj can suffice even the most seasoned veteran of the Dubai nightlife.

Been there once. Its an argentinan restaurant bar with daily live music and tango dancers on sundays. It has beautiful decoration, nice lighting and the place is spacious , there menu was ok, the wine selection was excellent and the food was great, the live music was kinda laud though, and its cost alot to eat there but its expected since it's the Palace Hotel after all.
I recommend it for special romantic occasions.

Dinner at BiCE is a must. Fantastic Italian cuisine that will impress even the most picky eater. The service is great, not too attentive, not too distant. BiCE also has a great selection of wine, ranging from reasonably priced to uber expensive. The atmosphere is further enhanced by a wonderful piano player and topped off with coffee and desserts. An excellent choice for fine Italian food.

This is one of those little places that you would never really know about unless someone recommended it to you. Hidden away in the Village shopping center in Jumeirah, most people pass it by for the neighboring Shakespeare & Co. I myself looked it over many times because 1) it was empty, and 2) I assumed that any place in the Village would either be overpriced or underwhelming. Wrong and wrong.

Believe it or not, this is one of the cheapest Thai spots in town, and it's good as hell. As much as I want to love the brimming-with-character ma n' pa operation, Smiling BKK's, this spot blows it out of the water on both price and food. The menu is extensive, but I usually get the lunch special because it's just too good to pass up. Basically it's a Thai chicken curry called Chicken Kai So (I think) over glass or egg noodles for Dhs 17!?! On top of that it's some of the best Thai curry I've had here. I would also suggest that you order some steamed rice with it, and their vegetable spring rolls are fantastic for the big spenders, though you might want to split them with someone else. I also usually get a green tea on ice which is only Dhs 6 or 7 which goes quite nicely with the prawn crackers they bring out at the beginning.

The only thing that this place lacks is atmosphere. They operate in a small space inside of a shopping center, but the food is top notch and more than makes up for any other shortcomings. I haven't had it for delivery yet so I can't comment on that. But if they start delivering to where I live I'll definitely give it a go and fill in the dubizzle community.

Barasti

Ok, so everyone knows that Barasti is one of the best bars (if not THE best bar) in Dubai. So normally, I wouldn't feel obliged to write a review about it, but I just had to share my dining experience from last night. **Keep in mind that this review is specifically of the restaurant, and not the bar.

Usually, a trip to Barasti during the week means only two things: sheesha and beer. If a little pub grub is necessary, the pizza will usually do the trick, or one of the 'small bites' like shrimp tempura. However, last night I was exceptionally hungry. Inspired by a certain Brit's order, I had to give the fish & chips a try. (As a side note, he had actually never tried the F & C at Barasti, but he placed that order as though it were NOT his first rodeo.)

I was shocked. The fish was an entire fillet of crispy fried goodness. It was flaky and tender and had not the slightest hint of fishiness. The tartar sauce on the side was a nice complement (albeit in moderation) and the chips (a.k.a. fries) were delicious and crispy as well. The mushy peas were a first for me, and they weren't as bad as their name makes them out to be.

Standard for Barasti, the atmosphere is great, and even in this heat it's still bearable to be outside. Service is hit or miss, but certainly is better on non-weekend nights. Prior to this particular experience, my opinion of the food was that it was quite overpriced. I had the burger once, and while it was very good, it's hard to justify AED 70+ for a bun and some meat. The fish & chips, however, are well worth the price, and I highly recommend this plate to anyone.
